Exhibiting my own work is an exciting event each and every time, especially if it concerns a solo exhibition. As an artist you expose yourself to the eyes and opinions of everyone who comes to see your work.
With the help of painting or drawing materials I try to convey that which fascinates, interests and touches me. Every piece is painted with conviction. If I can’t find that conviction in one of my paintings, I redo it, immediately or after a few months. Thus, my work allows a look at my innermost.
I participated in the annual exhibition of Chocart. I have also sent in my work for the exhibition ‘Het Vierkante Ei 2007’ (an art prize for amateur painters, organised by the Volkskrant). One of my paintings (“Don’t Cha”) made it to the semi-finals and was exhibited in the ‘Van Abbemuseum’ in Eindhoven.
In 2008 I competed for the Alphons Wintersprijs, a stage for amateur painters from both the Dutch and Belgian provinces of Limburg. The submitted work “Balinese vrouw” won first prize. In the spring of 2009, during the final exhibition in honour of the 10 year anniversary of Chocart, the painting I submitted, “IJsprinses” won in the category drawing and painting.
In the autumn of 2009 I had my first solo exhibition at the Galerie Norbert Dabekaussen in Sittard (see www.dabekaussen.nl).
Also, this year the work “Bishoujo” was selected for the finals of the Alphons Wintersprijs and it will be exhibited in the ‘gouvernementsgebouw’ in Maastricht at the end of November.
In 2012, “Bishoujo” was selected for the final round of the Alphons Wintersprijs in the gouvernementsgebouw in Maastricht. It received the 2nd prize.
Through family connections I came into contact with Gallery360 in Perth, Australia several years ago. They have been so kind as to exhibit some of my works, and they still retain some of my paintings in their collection.
In Octobre 2017 I will be participating in a group exhibition in the town hall of Beek. Moreover, I will have have a solo exhibition in the verzorgingtehuis Parc Imstenrade in Heerlen from Octobre 3rd.
